| A significant factor that got this show to Broadway: When covering the 2018 Williamstown Theatre premiere, Ben Brantley in the NY Times gave "Lempicka" an encouraging review, praising leading lady Eden Espinosa and likening the show to pop operas like "Evita." Brantley said there was room for improvement, but his fairly enthusiastic review must have made those involved believe that the project was worth continuing. Of course it didn't help that Brantley retired in 2020 and would no longer be covering "Lempicka" for the Times when it finally got to NY. |
