Mary Rodgers’ SHY & Christine Baranski

I remember more than one thread on SHY when it was first released. But I don’t remember any discussion of the audio book. Please forgive if the praise I’m about to heap has been, well, heaped before. And, if so, said by you, though, George.

I recently downloaded Mary Rodgers’ SHY via Audible. I needed something to listen to on long walks along the water. To my great surprise it’s read — no, PERFORMED by Christine Baranski. If you haven’t listened yet, don’t wait. Baranski is giving a delicious, full-out performance and it is absolutely …delicious. She has assumed the role of the author with wry respect and it has made the already terrific book an even more joyful experience.

Jesse Green, the book’s co-author pipes in to ground the story in reality and provide background on more than a few legendary characters. His is a perfect balance, a harmony.

The All That Chat crowd is this book’s audience, for sure. But hearing it performed as it is, with Green’s efficient, hilariously grounding presentation is an experience I think many of us here would really enjoy.
