With a recent thread of Chip Zien here -- many of us (I imagine) were first introduced to him as Mendel in the original March Of The Falsettos. But he was actually the original Marvin in the prequel, In Trousers, before Michael Rupert came into the picture. Although In Trousers has been heavily revised since that first recording was made, we do still have that recording to hear Zien's original take on that character.
