I got one rush ticket for a Wed. mat. preview. The seat was in the second mezz box stage right. Shortly before curtain, an usher told those in the boxes that we could move to regular mezz seats. All the others did so and made a BIG mistake. I moved to the first box and had the best seat in the house. At the beginning of Act 2, Matthew James Thomas came into the mezz, moved around a bit, then came into my box and sat next to me. He put his crown on my head. I put my arm around him and said, "My name is Lloyd." He replied, "My name is Pippin!" At this point, one of the acrobats was doing his balancing act. I asked if that was Orion Griffiths. He said yes and told me that Orion was trying a new stunt just then. He pulled it off, so Pippin took back his crown and said, "Nice to meet you, Lloyd" and made his way back down to the stage.

It's been 20 of late (last Sat. they had 20 tickets per show). But, someone ahead of me in line said they only had 12 on another day.

Get there EARLY-it's a zoo. And keep your eyes peeled-there were people cutting and 'joining' their friends (it's one ticket per person).

I'm gathering that it's based on availability each day, so there isn't a consistent number of rush tickets available.

Unless that's changed recently!

I have done it 9 times and got it all 9 times (seen it 10 times including Opening Night). They were holding 20 tickets for Rush. But this week, it has been less, On Sunday they sold Standing Room to the rest of the line that wanted it. But I think they stopped doing that (Standing Room is sold at $28 at spot). If you are going to Rush it get there by 7am. It fills fast. Also if you come as a group (4 or more) you will most likely be split up because the seats are on the sides in sets of 2 and 3. and the boxes.

They are still doing Standing Room tickets, but only when a show is completely sold out. I tried the rush line on 5/25, but was a few people short of the 38 tickets (total) they gave out for the two shows. They did not start selling standing room tickets ($29 a piece) for the evening show until 7:10 pm, when the last six premium seats had been sold, at which point those of us who had been waiting in an unofficial standing room line for the past two hours were invited into the box office to purchase tickets. One of the box office workers said that they had sold out several times that week, though it doesn't happen every night.

What time did you arrive for rush seats? Do you have any sense of when you need to arrive to be safe? Thanks in advance for any info.

I got in line at 7:45 am. The people right in front of me had gotten there around 7, and they were still several away from the rush ticket cut-off. Some people towards the front of the line had clearly been camped out for a while.

If you don't mind standing room, that's a great option. It seemed like most of the rush tickets were on the side, and the standing room really gives you a good view of everything happening onstage.
