The Drowsy Chaperone, winner of five Tonys and seven Drama Desk Awards, opens at the Contra Costa Civic Theatre (CCCT) in El Cerrito The great songs and stunning dance numbers come one right after another under the guidance of Director Daren A.C. Carollo, Musical Director Michael Wiles, and Choreographer Rick Wallace. The Drowsy Chaperone takes us to the home of an avid theatre fan as he recalls his favorite old gem, a fictional Broadway musical whose cast includes a Broadway star, an oil tycoon, a ditzy chorus girl, a Latin lover, an aviatrix, a couple of gangsters, and a tipsy chaperone. The show within a show comes to life as our narrator sets the needle on his record player to an old 33 rpm LP.This production features several familiar faces in the cast and crew. Director Daren A.C. Carollo is CCCT's Managing Director and co-director of the 2012 season finale West Side Story. John Brown, playing the role of the narrator, appeared in CCCT's productions of Noises Off, Lucky Stiff, and Forever Plaid.
