CIRQUE DREAMS HOLIDAZE will dazzle this holiday season when it transforms the stage into a wonderland of fantasy and disbelief. Directed by Neil Goldberg, creator of the groundbreaking Broadway hit CIRQUE DREAMS JUNGLE FANTASY, CIRQUE DREAMS HOLIDAZE is "so full of energy it could end our dependence on oil" according to the New York Daily News and is "a delicious confection of charm, sparkle and talent by the sleigh load." The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle raves, "even the Grinch would be impressed with this Christmas wonderland." "Stuffed with so much holiday cheer and audacious acts, Scrooge would exit with a big ol' smile on his face," hails the Erie Times News. "The perfect way to come in from the cold, forget the holiday stresses and find the magic of the season" proclaims The Oakland Press. Don't miss the international sensation that "Dazzled…at The Kennedy Center" according to the Washington Post.

An international cast of multi-talented and brilliantly costumed artists come to life and perform astonishing feats of disbelief: experience gingerbread men flipping mid-air, toy soldiers marching on thin wires, snowmen daringly balancing, icemen powerfully sculpting, penguins spinning, puppets dancing and reindeer soaring high above a landscape of holiday wonderment. An original music score and some seasonal favorites accompany hundreds of astonishing costumes and holiday dreams in a setting of gigantic gifts, colossal candy canes and 30-foot towering soldiers, creating a wonderland of spectacle.

Creator/Director Goldberg says, “CIRQUE DREAMS HOLIDAZE continues the spirit of our brand first established in 1993…to present quality, accessible entertainment throughout the world integrating limitless imagination with multiple performance genres.”

—The submission window for the fifth annual Marin Young Playwrights Festival is now open. The deadline for submission is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2013. High school students currently enrolled in grades 9-12 are encouraged to submit ten-minute plays for selection to be performed as staged readings directed and acted by teens at Marin Theatre Company (397 Miller Avenue, Mill Valley) on Sunday, January 19, 2014. The eight finalists will be announced on Monday, December 16, 2013. This year will be the first year that the festival will have no geographic limitations for submissions – one of the eight finalists will be chosen from outside Marin and Sonoma Counties.

The Marin Young Playwrights Festival celebrates the work of teen playwrights in Marin County and beyond to encourage a focus on playwriting in high schools. Each fall, teens are encouraged to submit original ten-minute scripts to the festival. Members of MTC’s Teen Apprenticeship Program review the scripts in a blinded process and select eight finalists. Local teens direct and perform the finalist plays at the annual winter festival held at MTC. MTC’s Artistic Staff serve as judges at the festival and select one winning script, which receives a staged reading with professional actors and a professional director at MTC in conjunction with the company’s New Play Reading Series. Now in its fifth year, the Marin Young Playwrights Festival receives a minimum of 50 submissions each year.
There is no fee to submit. Submissions must be five to ten minutes long in any genre and possible to perform with a maximum of four actors and no design requirements beyond a few chairs or stools, a small table and simple hand props. Playwrights must be enrolled in high school in the 2013-14 school year. Only one submission per playwright is allowed each year. Musicals, translations and adaptations are not eligible. Collaborations are welcome as long as all participating playwrights are eligible under these rules. Plays must not have received a production prior to submission.
Plays may be submitted through this online form only: https://marintheatre.wufoo.com/forms/2014-marin-young-playwrights-festival/ More information about the festival and submission guidelines:
