Previews begin Jan. 10, 2014 at Hudson Guild Theatre in NYC
opening night set for Jan. 13

I COULD SAY MORE -- a new play by Chuck Blasius -- will be given its world-premiere production Off-Broadway, with previews starting Friday, January 10, 2014 prior to an official press opening night on Monday, January 13 at Hudson Guild Theatre (441 W. 26 St.) in Manhattan.

Set in a Long Island summer beach house, I COULD SAY MORE will debut this winter with a cast featuring such noted actors as Keith McDermott (Broadway's original EQUUS), Robert Gomes (THE LAST NIGHT OF BALLYHOO on Broadway), Grant James Varjas (33 VARIATIONS/playwright 33 TO NOTHING), Chuck Blasius (ACCIDENTALLY, LIKE A MARTYR), Brett Douglas (MY BIG GAY ITALIAN WEDDING), Monique Vukovic (GOD'S EAR, PETER AND VANDY), Kate Hodge (GOOD PEOPLE, DINNER WITH FRIENDS), Frank Delessio (THE RIMERS OF ELDRITCH) and Brandon Smalls (ANTHONY AND CLEOPATRA, NY Fringe). The production is directed by the playwright.

I COULD SAY MORE is the tale of a modern family: Carl is romantically and sexually obsessed with his brother-in-law. He's also married to Drew and together they have an adopted son, Jason. During a would-be relaxing two-week vacation at a rented beach house where Carl is meant to be writing, he flies in the face of reason and invites company -- and trouble: the object of his affection (his husband's brother), who brings along his current boy-toy, as well as two straight couples who arrive with their own metaphorical baggage. Liquor flows, emotions run high and rivalries old and new surface, triggering everyone -- including the kid -- to rethink their lives, loves and commitments.

Scenic design is by Clifton Chadick; lighting design is by Brian Tovar; and sound design is by Roger Anderson. Costumes are by Esther Colt Coats.

A member of the Dramatists Guild, Mr. Blasius is the author of the plays WE WERE THERE at Bank Street Theater and LONELY TOO LONG at Sanford Meisner Theatre. His directing credits include Peter Mercurio's play ANDREW REACHES THE OTHER SIDE and Eric Bernat and Robin Corrigan's JESUS AND MANDY.

I COULD SAY MORE is presented by Other Side Productions, which enjoyed considerable critical and popular success in 2011 with Grant James Varjas' play ACCIDENTALLY, LIKE A MARTYR Off-Broadway at the Paradise Factory. Peter Mercurio is the artistic director of the company, which produces original or little-known plays. Other past Other Side productions: ANDREW REACHES THE OTHER SIDE, WE WERE THERE, TWO SPOONS and SHINE! THE HORATIO ALGER MUSICAL.
