I'm watching a repeat of this now, and really enjoying it. A bit raspy on the top notes, and sometime the low notes too, but you know what? Who cares! It's wonderful she still sounds as great as she does, and I'm enjoying that she seems so relaxed and honest as a performer - traits I feel she's tended to lose over the years - I'm glad she seems to be returning to that. (Except for the Gypsy moment, which was pushy and pushed, as if to really prove she could do it. Sorry, Babs, I love ya, but this was just not right.)

Just two complaints about the telecast itself. One, it seems they're scanning the audience just waiting for people to mouth the words along with her so they can zoom in on them - we're barely an hour into the broadcast and I'm already sick of that.

The other is the typical PBS evil sleight of hand - this repeat is a "pledge break" spectacular - were the pledge breaks also part of the Friday night broadcast? As much as I understand that they need to do these awful, insufferable breaks, I really want to say - shame on them. It tends to send the message that anytime they are willing to show something special it will come with a price (literally and figuratively), and for me, it results in the opposite effect of what they intend - my NOT wanting to support them.

(In fact, I'm typing this during pledge break #2. How many more to come? Ugh.)
