You do realize that what you quoted proves you wrong? It says that it refers to comedies half a century later--not a whole century later.

Even so, Goldsmith and Sheridan do not feel a bit like Restoration comedy--in many ways they feel like the opposite of Restoration Comedy!

This is not a scholarly question, but just one of sense. No one is abusing anyone. No one is committing adultery. No one makes any direct reference to sex at all. If you don't have any of that, how can it be Restoration Comedy?
