Agree on all points. I was trying to place a cultural/industry context -- to recall a vibe or lack thereof -- around the seeming Broadway audience (theater-going consumers') indifference, not indict the film in any way. I am a true believer in the subjectivity of all emotional responses to art. I made a similar point below yours about my quiet respect for "Far From Heaven" amid a sea of "meh." Your post has made me want to see the film again, which I shall do this very week. Sometimes, we can hit material on the wrong day; I'd love to reconsider its artistry and impact. Thank you.
