in its first full-scale New York revival in 73 years.

PERFORMANCES BEGIN FEBRUARY 26, 2014
AT CELEBRATION OF WHIMSY (The former home of The Living Theatre)

Complete Casting has been announced for Beautiful Soup Theater’s revival of Ferenc Molnar’s LILIOM (in a translation by Benjamin Glazer), opening at The Celebration of Whimsy in New York City on February 26th, 2014.

Ferenc Molnar's Liliom, the classic play that inspired Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein's musical Carousel, has not seen a full production in New York City in over five decades. The production, directed by Artistic Director Steven Carl McCasland (Yentl, A Doll’s Life, Rags), will star the previously announced Gerrard Lobo as the beautiful but brutish Liliom and Morgan DeTogne (Rags, Lift) as the only woman he has ever loved, Julie.

The production will also feature Sara Hymes as Marie (the role that inspired Carrie Pipperidge in Carousel), Colin Fisher as Wolf (the role that inspired Enoch Snow in Carousel), Kimberly Rogers as Mrs. Muskat, Kelly Reader as Louise, Orlando Iriarte (Yentl, Moose Murders) as The Heavenly Magistrate, Laurie Sammeth as Mother Hollunder (the role that inspired Nettie in Carousel), Julian Goza as Ficsur (the role that inspired Jigger in Carousel), with appearances by Somie Pak, Barnaby Edwards (Rags) and Luke Wise. Hailli Ridsdale serves as Production Stage Manager, with Lighting Design by Molly Tiede.

Molnar's play first opened on Broadway in 1921 and starred Eva Le Gallienne. It was revived eleven years later, but has not seen a full production in New York City since. After the 1932 revival, the play was adapted into the beloved musical Carousel by Rodgers and Hammerstein, and a ballet by Michel Legrand. At teaser trailer for the revival is available on YouTube at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8vk5gTfmtk

A portion of proceeds raised from this production will benefit Safe Horizon, the largest victims’ services agency in the United States, touching the lives of more than 250,000 children, adults, and families affected by abuse throughout New York City each year.
