Maybe the difference was that I didn't see the movie, so I was coming in cold.

I also felt Will was motivated to sing ''Stranger''

Yes, I misspoke. What I meant was not "unmotivated" but "uninvolving." But I'll give the album a listen, maybe the show caught me on a bad night.

Regardless, the show had a strike against it by being a mosaic of tales that weren't individually compelling. The mermaid and giant sequences, for example, were merely whimsical, and the labors-of-Hercules deal with the ringmaster didn't make a lot of sense.

I don't mean to kick the show when it's down, I'm just prone to wondering why these problems weren't caught a long time ago.
