Although most of the reviews were favorable (and the production did deserve those reviews), they did not make it sound like a must-see. Despite two film versions, the title is not too famous over here. (The first film version is sort of forgotten.) Even the first Broadway production was just a modest success. The Roundabout did have a nice run with a revival in 1980, which they extended. But when it was later moved to an open run at the Lortel (or perhaps it was still the de Lys back then), it didn't last long.

Anyway, I don't know what more they could have done, except get some bigger names, but perhaps if they had, the bigger names would not have been as good as the altogeher excellent cast they got.
