The early box office receipts for "Frozen" suggest the animated musical is back. Of course, "Frozen" was carefully marketed to hit every demographic (a princess story that managed to keep the princess element tamped down in many trailers and print ads, to not drive boys away; or so says Disney, per today's TIMES).

I remember how the animated "King and I" laid something of an egg, yes? I never saw it. But the brand "Cats" remains a strong one. Of course, unlike the Disney film(s), the musical lacks a compelling narrative, and hangs a lot of numbers on a premise, not a story.
