I didn't ask her, but I imagine the opportunity to play opposite Roger Rees was a major draw. And, in a sense, as a "return" to the Broadway stage, it allowed her to demonstrate the chops for more mature (and non-musical) roles.

In the end, as a limited run, it was an opportunity to remind people of her stage powers--which where she began, of course. And a job is a job.
