If anyone is going to decry the profit-based model driving premium pricing, will they kindly reveal the alternative model they propose? Shall we re-establish an aristocracy and have royal patronage of the arts, like in old Europe? Maybe we could get David Cameron or Angela Merkel to come over to do a stint as our Minister of Culture?

Oh, for the love of Christ. The "alternative" to "premium" prices is to charge ticket prices that are high enough to cover costs and return a profit but not high enough to constitute gouging and prevent 99 percent of the public from attending the Broadway theater. You know, like Broadway managed to do for all of the last century?
