that is correct but it isn't in their job description. there is plenty of (more) affordable theater in nyc, much of it better, usually, than most of what's on b'way - this year being an exception. its an incredibly strong year so far and recently spring has been better than fall. if that trend continues it will be a stellar year. but back to your point. it has never been the job of producers to "make theater accessible to all." the theater will survive high ticket prices. the nature of broadway may change - which isn't really a big deal since it is a constant state of change anyway. it's safer (i'd say more scared) and too geared toward tourists but i believe this, too, shall pass.
