One set was submitted by Tim Rice but only used in previews. They were then discarded for Trevor Nunns version which is based on a TS Eliot poem.

Quite an interesting story about it in an ALW bio (can't remember the author) but it was hell for Elaine Paige whi stepped into the show only days before the first preview then got caught in a lyrics war for her big song: One set from the director and another from her then boyfriend (the married Mr Rice).
