It's not my logic, it's TV executive logic. I'm not saying it's right or good, but that's the way of the world these days. A lot has changed since the Ricardos and the Kramdens. Or since the days of Good Times and Sanford and Son. For better or worse, TV writers (and execs) these days don't think viewers want to see people struggling to make ends meet on a sitcom.

...even when that's the whole point of the sitcom. The Two Broke Girls are supposed to be living in poverty, yet their apartment is still bigger than what a lot of New Yorkers are living in.

Did anyone believe that Monica Gellar would have such a gigantic apartment in Friends? (Which they eventually tried to explain away by saying the lease was in her Grandmother's name and it was rent-controlled.)

There are a whole lot more examples I could come up with. It's a common complaint, and has been for at least the last 20 years, if not 30. So complain away, but it's not likely to change any time soon.
