I'm not suggesting that Kirstie Alley's character be portrayed as struggling to make ends meet, but why did they have add all those trapping to make her appear so very rich?

Wasn't the entire premise of The Nanny similar? A Broadway director (or maybe producer?) who was wealthy enough to have a mansion with a live-in butler and nanny?
