Speaking of All About Eve and implausibility verging on the ridiculous

First, yeah, Ms. Bacall was not exactly the opposite of vinegary.

Second, I find one major theatre-related plot point in All About Eve a bit far-fetched and another more than a bit far-fetched.

No matter how good her audition, it seems unlikely that Eve would get that job as Margo's understudy given her lack of professional experience. Maybe they'd try her first as the understudy in a supporting role.

But even if you accept that, can we really believe that they're going to give her the lead role in Lloyd's next play, based on one performance as an understudy, her only professional credit?
