Any thoughts about Mothers and Sons with Tyne Daly?

We've got a 5 day trip to NY in May and I was thinking about "Mothers and Sons" with Tyne Daly. In my 10+ years of reading this board, it seems few actors have received such consistent praise. (I think the worst I've read was that someone preferred Angela Lansbury's Rose) However, I've been disappointed by some of Terrance McNally's stuff. Any comments on the play?
