Karen does make it clear, early on, that the entire saga transpires in a single NY theater season, which means Eve moves from AGED IN WOOD to FOOTSTEPS ON THE CEILING quickly, goes out of town, opens on B'way, triumphs, and manages to be so instantly winning that she not only wins a coveted award and gets a movie deal, but inspires clubs in high schools. All of that would have to happen between March and June. How many performances of FOOTSTEPS would Eve have played? Now that's an ascendancy. It would be hard to imagine happening over 18 months; it happens in 3-6. But, hey, it's a masterwork, and we accept much of it at face value because the emotional truth(s) are so vivid and real.
