After Midnight & TDF

Posted by: ileen 08:53 am EST 12/05/13

I saw After Midnight last night w/TDF tickets. We were given AA 101 & 102, which is actually 2nd row for this show as there are two seats in AAA.

It's been a very long time since I sat that close for a musical (I won the 1st row lottery at Ragtime's revival, but before that it had to be late 1980s). While there were a couple of times I wish I had a more distant view (the five man top hatted number), it was thrilling to see this fantastic dancing up close for once. Maybe if there was a true through story instead of a series of musical numbers it would have been different, but I loved seeing how hard the cast was working, and at times how effortless it seemed.

And maybe it's common knowledge among theater folk, but I never realized tap dancers' feet were miked before. I'm even more impressed with the quick costume changes having seen the mikes and wires attached to shoes/socks/stockings with tape.
