DISASTER! is one of the funniest, most entertaining shows I've ever seen

Posted by: Michael_Portantiere 02:19 pm EST 12/05/13

Though I have no personal or financial stake in the production, I'd like to put in a few great words for this show at St. Luke's Theater, which isn't the monster hit it should be, I assume partly because they have an unusual playing schedule.

Anyway, DISASTER! is a spoof of '70s disaster movies, featuring what seems like 100 pop songs of the era, from "Hooked on a Feeling" to "I Am Woman" to "Alone Again, Naturally" interpolated into the story in highly creative, hysterically funny ways.

All hyperbole aside, it's one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. At the performance I attended, the waves of laughter that rolled through the audience from the beginning of the show to the end were like nothing I've heard since THE PRODUCERS. The entire cast is brilliant: Jennifer Simard, Mary Testa, Jonah Verdon, co-author Seth Rudetsky, et al.

Truly, this one is not to be missed. And at Off-Off-Broadway prices, it's eminently affordable, so please consider it as a very special pre- or post-holiday treat. For more info, go to www.disastermusical.com

Below is a link to our most recent BroadwayRadio podcast with co-authors Rudetsky and Jack Plotnick (and our other special guest this week, Jennifer Ashley Tepper).
