Three Time Tony Award® Nominee
MARIN MAZZIE

as “Helen Sinclair”

Producers Letty Aronson and Julian Schlossberg are proud to announce that three time Tony Award® nominee Marin Mazzie (Passion; Ragtime; Kiss Me, Kate) will play the role of “Helen Sinclair” in the world premiere production of the brand new musical comedy BULLETS OVER BROADWAY.

The new musical, written by Woody Allen and based on the screenplay by Allen and Douglas McGrath for the 1994 film, will be directed and choreographed by five-time Tony Award® winner Susan Stroman.

As previously announced, BULLETS OVER BROADWAY will feature Brooks Ashmanskas (The Producers) as “Warner Purcell,” Golden Globe® and Emmy Award nominee Zach Braff (“Scrubs,” Garden State) as “David Shayne,” Nick Cordero (Rock of Ages) as “Cheech,” Vincent Pastore (“The Sopranos”) as “Nick Valenti,” Betsy Wolfe (The Mystery of Edwin Drood) as “Ellen,” Lenny Wolpe (The Drowsy Chaperone) as “Julian Marx” and Heléne Yorke (Grease) as “Olive Neal.”

BULLETS OVER BROADWAY will also feature Clyde Alves (Nice Work if You Can Get It), Jim Borstelmann (Chaplin), Janet Dickinson (How The Grinch Stole Christmas), Kimberly Fauré (Anything Goes), Paige Faure (Cinderella), Casey Garvin (Bare), Sarah Lin Johnson (Broadway debut), Andy Jones (Cinderella), Amanda Kloots-Larsen (Follies), Kevin Ligon (The Chosen), Brittany Marcin (Anything Goes), James Moye (Million Dollar Quartet), Beth Johnson Nicely (Irving Berlin’s White Christmas) and Eric Santagata (Chaplin) among the ensemble cast of 29.

Additional casting will be announced.

BULLETS OVER BROADWAY will begin preview performances on Tuesday, March 11 and officially open Thursday, April 10, 2014 at The St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street).

BULLETS OVER BROADWAY tells the story of an aspiring young playwright (Braff) newly arrived on Broadway in 1920’s New York who is forced to cast a mobster's (Pastore) talentless girlfriend (Yorke) in his latest drama in order to get it produced.

Five time Tony Award® winning director and choreographer Susan Stroman will bring the new musical to the stage with a Tony Award® winning design team of Broadway veterans including Santo Loquasto (scenic design), William Ivey Long (costume design), Donald Holder (lighting design), Peter Hylenski (sound design), Paul Huntley (wig and hair design), William Berloni (animal training), Glen Kelly (music supervision and adaptation / additional Lyrics), Doug Besterman (orchestrations) and Andy Einhorn (music direction/conductor and vocal arrangements).

The Broadway production of BULLETS OVER BROADWAY will feature existing music of the period.

BULLETS OVER BROADWAY is produced by Letty Aronson and Julian Schlossberg and co-produced by Edward Walson, Leroy Schecter, Roy Furman, Broadway Across America, Just for Laughs Theatricals/Jacki Barlia Florin, Harold Newman and Jujamcyn Theaters and associate producer Don't Speak, LLC.

BIOGRAPHY

MARIN MAZZIE (Helen Sinclair). Critically acclaimed actress and singer Marin Mazzie, has been heard in many of the country's major symphony halls, cabaret and concert venues, and has starred in some of the most memorable musicals on the Broadway stage and London's West End. She most recently co-starred in the Off-Broadway revival of Carrie (Drama Desk and Lucille Lortel Award nominations) and starred on Broadway in Next to Normal opposite real life husband Jason Danieley. Marin received Tony® and Drama Desk Award nominations and an Outer Critics Circle Award for her performance as Lilli/Katharine in the hit revival of Kiss Me, Kate, and later received an Olivier Award nomination when she made her West End debut in the show.

Other Broadway credits include Enron, Monty Python’s Spamalot (also West End), Ragtime (Tony®, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics nominations), Passion (Tony® nomination), Man of La Mancha, Into the Woods, Big River, and Out of this World and Kismet (both for Encores!). Other Off-Broadway credits include The Vagina Monologues, The Trojan Women: A Love Story and And the World Goes ‘Round (also National Tour).

Television appearances include “The Big C,” “Smash,” “Without a Trace,” “Still Standing,” “Numb3ers,” “Jake in Progress,” “Stacked,” “Pryor Offenses,” “One Life to Live” and many PBS' “Great Performances” specials including “Passion,” “My Favorite Broadway: The Leading Ladies,” and “My Favorite Broadway: The Love Songs;” and Live from Lincoln Center’s “Ring Them Bells! A Kander & Ebb Celebration.”

Her extensive concert career spans the country from Carnegie Hall to the Hollywood Bowl. She has appeared with the NY Philharmonic in two of their PBS specials: “Sondheim: The Birthday Concert” and their Live at Lincoln Center performance of Camelot as Guinevere. Marin and husband Jason Danieley, have performed their cabaret concerts He Said/She Said and Opposite You at The Café Carlyle, Feinstein's at the Loews Regency, Lincoln Center's American Songbook series, Joe's Pub, the Cinegrill, and numerous other venues nationally. Marin recently received critical acclaim for her new solo show at 54 Below.
