I don't know that it really calls for an actress so much as a really charming stage personality. Underwood is demure and pretty but she hasn't any sparkle.

The Von Trapps were not pleased with the choice of Underwood

Laura Benanti makes one wish that Hollywood was still making musicals. She is walking away with this.
