Laura Benanti is such an engaging and capable performer that she elevates the level of whatever vehicle she is involved with. Oddly enough, her brilliance may have skewed the proceedings. She seemed a much better match for Captain VonTrapp than Maria. This is the first time I've rooted for Elsa to win his heart.
