I noticed the same thing last night. Underwood got better with McDonald in the Climb Every Mountain scene. And she was better after that, maybe more relaxed. McDonald said something nice about singing to Underwood's sweet face. Perhaps they developed a connection during rehearsals. Let's face it. If Underwood had more time to do the show in front of a live audience, she may have developed a better sense of timing and delivery. It must have been hard rehearsing in a vacuum.
