She'd be a wonderful Adelaide, which while calling for a character voice, still affords the singer plenty of opportunity to show off her voice (Vivian Blaine was no slouch on the OCR).

Adelaide is a very good role, but it's not the kind of huge star vehicle you would want for a Lady Gaga TV special. Adelaide is about the same importance as the other three leads in the show, Sky, Sarah and Nathan. Sky and Sarah have more to sing than Adelaide and Nathan has more book scenes.

You get Lady Gaga and some other big names, plus a fine Nicely-Nicely, since he actually has nearly as many songs as the other four characters. Adelaide has two big nightclub numbers, her killer Lament, and two funny duets--with Nathan and with Sarah. Plus Lady Gaga did it in high school -- just like Nathan Lane, and he did all right with the show.

But after having watched some of her "Saturday Night Live" appearance, I think Gaga could pull off Fanny Brice, and very well too.
