For reel NYC fans of cinema and theater: Of Sondheim, Sands & singing vampires

Posted by: WaymanWong 10:43 am EST 12/07/13

* ''Six by Sondheim'': If you can't wait until Monday night to see it on HBO, the Quad Cinema (34 W. 13th St.) is screening it at 1 and 3 p.m. Does HBO usually do this? It seems odd, yet there it is listed at www.quadcinema.com.

* ''Live at the Foxes Den'': Stephen Moyer (''True Blood'') isn't the only singing vampire around. There's Jackson Rathbone, who plays Jasper Hale in the ''Twilight'' saga, and he's opening in this movie he co-wrote. He stars as a lawyer who moonlights as a lounge singer. Broadway pros Elliot Gould and Bob Gunton play a gay couple. Also at the Quad.

* ''What He Did for Love: Marvin Hamlisch'': PBS' ''American Masters'' documentary about the multi-award-winning composer is now playing for a week at Lincoln Center's Bunin Film Center. It features interviews with Barbra Streisand, Woody Allen, Carly Simon, Carly Simon, Lucie Arnaz, Joe Torre and many more. PBS will air it on Dec. 27. filmlinc.com.

* ''Inside Llewyn Davis'': Public Theater and MTC alum Oscar Isaac stars as a struggling folk singer in the '60s in this new Coen brothers movie, and it's chock-full of N.Y. actors, including Stark Sands, Adam Driver, F. Murray Abraham, etc. If you see it at Regal Union Square Stadium 14 this weeeknd, they give you a free CD of the soundtrack with your ticket.
