| I think it should be an iconic show that was not well filmed. A Chorus Line? Man of La Mancha? The Phantom of the Opera? They could do a less iconic show with a very big star as well. Beyonce and Harry Connick in No Strings...would anyone watch? | |

| "A Chorus Line" would be wonderful but almost impossible to pull off for the family audience and the recent revival proved it will need a great director to make it work. "Man of La Mancha" would be the best bet and there are plenty of big stars to play the leads. How about "Promises, Promises" it has a Christmas theme - or "How to Succeed in Business" - the film is good but terribly dated | |

| "A Chorus Line" would be wonderful but almost impossible to pull off for the family audience and the recent revival proved it will need a great director to make it work. Also, A Chorus Line is not a vehicle (though the film tried to make it one - big mistake) - I have a feeling they'll want to look at shows with true starring roles, not ensemble pieces. | |

| Well, "lousy" is a value judgment. I do think the show has a sentimental mess of a book and the music is very uneven, with a very obvious bid for radio play with the big ballad. | |

But the reality is, it's going to *have* to be an iconic title *and* an iconic star. This is network TV, not a fringe cable station that can get away with "artsier" choices. | Which basically means we're looking at more Rodgers & Hammerstein, or top-tier Lerner & Loewe. Right? I mean, the titles that a significant portion of the country will recognize: Oklahoma!, My Fair Lady, South Pacific, Camelot, The King and I. What else is there that would be a widely (widely) recognized title and also be family friendly (because you know that's what NBC is going to want). | |

| Other titles besides those from R&H and L&L: The Lion King (this would probably be the biggest rated thing ever on tv if there were a live tv production of the Broadway production) Into the Woods Grease (that's what the Grease reality casting competition should have been leading to) Oliver The Wiz Hello Dolly Ragtime West Side Story Gypsy Man of La Mancha (a great choice, I think, for this type of thing) Fiddler On The Roof The Fantasticks The Music Man (already had a recent TV remake) Little Shop of Horrors Guys and Dolls Porgy and Bess Showboat 1776 Kiss Me Kate Annie (unlikely with the not-long ago tv remake and new movie coming out Beauty and the Beast On the Town Hairspray Mamma Mia Once Bye Bye Birdie (already had a recent TV remake) How to Succeed… Funny Girl Sunday in the Park with George Jersey Boys In the Heights Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum (they'd have to cut a few sex-related bits) Violet It's all about content being appropriate and EITHER a big star OR a big title… both would be great, but I think if Miley Cyrus or Anne Hathaway or Selena Gomex would star in Violet it wouldn't matter than no one has heard of it before. | |

| It lends itself to this kind of production very well I think. And it's not a super well known title but I think the right cast would definitely bring in the audience. (let's not forget that family don't need a star to watch something, they just want to a big tv event to watch with the whole family). | |
