I think there are more posts about SOM than about the Tonys, which says something.

What also says something to me is that my sister who likes theater but doesn't really go called from Syracuse (to acknowledge my Christmas gifts had arrived!) and then asked if I had seen it. She liked it, discussed it but more amazing HER HUSBAND liked it. My sister had also called my other sister (with whom a have a Broadway marathon every February) and they had discussed it too. I remember as a child when Broadway shows were big deals and were discussed, when straight men were allowed to admit they liked musicals and when the television appearances of Broadway stars such as Ethel Merman, Mary Martin and Gwen Verdon were notable occasions.

And my straight brother, who I don't think has ever been to a live stage musical except the ones my parents dragged him to when I was in school, called me to say he watched it. His wife thought it was a hoot he knew all the words to the songs. He told her I had played the album a thousand times when he was a kid.
