we are being a little unrealistic with the stars...

I think getting two blockbuster A-list movie stars to do this would be pretty difficult. Not because of the commitment but because of the embarrassment factor… if I saw this SOM I would not be interested if I thought the production I were in would be directed/choreographed/shot as poorly as SOM was. It would take a lot of time and money to get those stars AND the creative team they could trust to make it first class with them.

I think Hairspray could be done now. I don't think we will EVER see Rent as a live network tv musical event, and I don't think that's a problem. This needs to be for family, and Rent is too graphic for that.
