Weird Question about Sunset Boulevard Set

Posted by: dlittle 12:36 am EST 12/08/13

So this has always bothered me. If you look at the picture of Norma's mansion in the booklet for the Toronto highlights CD of Sunset Boulevard, it looks like the steps wrap around the stage right side of the stage right sofa. On Broadway, the stage right sofa was all the way up against the stage right mansion wall...meaning no steps in between the two. You can also see this interesting cut glass window above the same sofa that seems to face towards the audience where it looked to be facing stage right on Broadway. Was the stage larger in Toronto therefore forcing an adjustment to make the mansion wider in Toronto than on Broadway? I know it's a weird question but that difference in the pictures has always thrown me off and I only saw the show on Broadway, not in Toronto.
