During the first run of this MERRILY in cinemas, there were major complaints about the sound in several theaters here in NYC, including the Ziegfeld. I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the quality of the sound systems in those theaters, and everything to do with the fact that there are sometimes problems with the digital presentation.
