I do think Chita is way too old to be playing Roxie, but I've always thought the part of Roxie worked best if she was just past child-bearing age. The original Roxie was Gwen Verdon and I believe she was about 50 when she played the part. It makes it more obvious that Roxie's announcement of being pregnant is just a ploy for public sympathy and publicity. Just my two cents.
