I haven't seen the movie though I own the DVD and now I plan to watch it because the story would probably work better in its original form and time.

I did find that the adaptation was interesting as a recasting with African-British characters. I imagine this would play even better in England.

I wasn't sure if I bought the final epiphany.

I did think it was worth seeing and I thought the lead actor and his mentor were very good.

But I can't wait to watch Tom Courtenay in the part of the lonely runner.
