I know that Terfel is a hugely popular, deeply respected vocalist, but his available Sweeney clips thus far have been painful to watch. Take the Sondheim 80th birthday concert in London. It's like poor Maria Friedman doesn't even exist -- he doesn't seem to know how to interact with another actor on the stage and the vocals are too affected for my taste. There are opera singers who can make the transition to musical theatre singing beautifully -- Dawn Upshaw, Harolyn Blackwell -- but I don't think Terfel is one of them.

Jeff Blumencrantz as the Beadle? I guess that Schuler Hensley's fat suit from "The Whale" will be in order. Or not. Maybe it's time for a skinny Beadle.

The only physical description I can think of (off the top of my head) for any characters is Johanna's hair color, and "such a nice plump frame what's his name has... had... has" for Pirelli (which, of course, does not apply to Christian Borle or any number of other Pirellis I've seen).
