54 Below

Looking at tickets for Linda Eder in February at 54 Below and there are 2 ticket prices. Are the premium tickets worth the extra $10? Is seating generally first come, first served or are you assigned a table when you purchase your tickets? I appreciate any input - very excited about finally attending a concert at this venue that I have heard so much about.

The main dining room takes up most of the seating. Though I prefer sitting there, you are not far from the stage at all if you sit in the bar area. If you get there early and pay for the bar, there are about five seats in the bar that are right next to the main seating room.

Seating is first-come, first-served, so it's best to get there early. They do reserve spots in advance for friends of the performers, but not too many. Bear in mind that the space only seats 150 people.

I find this venue a great place to hear someone you like because it's so intimate. If you go a late show when it exists you often get to talk to the performer(s).

I really like the bar. It's raised three steps (?) above the floor of the room so it has great sight lines. The space is so deliciously small that any place is a great place to see and hear the performance. Really, 54 Below is one of the best cabaret spaces I've known.

And very well run: servers, drinks, etc.

Go. Go. Go. You'll like.

I agree! The food is good without being as pricey as you would expect in the theater district.

that it was first come. first served, the earlier you got there. I always felt that the earlier you reserved, no matter when you showed up - of course at a reasonable time to when you made reservations - that you got the best tables.

jdm -- you may be partially correct. But I notice that I usually get to sit where I like when I show up about an hour before.

For Aaron Tveit, which was sold out way in advance I got a great table because I was already there for the previous show with Steve Kazee.

I've been there many times and I usually get worse seats if I show up at the last minute.

Because I was given a special membership this year due to my frequent attendance I may get slightly better seating but I don't expect them to hold me a better table if I show up late, even if I booked two months in advance.
