As most of the promotional material referred to the piece as a romantic comedy, I went in assuming boy and girl got together in the end. Honey bee business aside, the show doesn't re-invent the wheel, but it does do what it does in an engaging and entertaining way. I agree (as I wrote in a previous post) that O'Byrne and Messing have lovely chemistry, and that Messing especially impressed me with a performance that was authentically very far from her on-screen persona. (I have tended to find her cloying on television, going back to her pre-W&G days) Also, the more I think about it, the scene between O'Byrne and Maloney as Tony is near death is perfectly calibrated--tender and emotional without overdoing it. This is not a revolutionary work, but I enjoyed it more than most things I've seen this season.
