Fame, Success and Friendship Collide in The World Premiere of

PRIVATE DISCLOSURES

January 23rd – February 2nd @ The Bridge Theatre

"Never start a story with a description of the weather. Nor end it with a marriage.
The critics will kill you."

The World Premiere of J.B. Heap’s one-act comedy, Private Disclosures, will be presented at The Bridge Theatre, January 23rd – February 2nd. This fast-paced comedy takes place in the 1960’s and is directed by Stephen Jobes.

On the eve of his 40th birthday, Preston Sherwood, the gossip columnist for the NY Gazetteer, both announces and denies the completion of his roman à clef: an expose of the sexual shenanigans of the city’s high society. No one has read it. No one has seen it. Is it a hoax? Can the matrons of Park Avenue dare to take that chance?

In this comedic one-act play, Preston and his beloved companion, a foulmouthed parrot named Oedipus, navigate the deadly night of his birthday party.

The production stars Robert K. Benson (Off Broadway/59E59’s Your Image), Einar Gunn (Broadway/Roundabout’s A Man for All Seasons) and Jamie Heinlein (Off-Broadway/Emerging Artist’s Penny Penniworth).

The creative team includes set design by Rudy Jaimes, production stage management by Mark Brystowski, produced by Dina Vovsi.

All performances take place at The Bridge Theatre at Shetler Studios, 244 West 54th Street, 12th Floor. (Between Broadway & 8th Avenue). Subways: A/B/C/D/1 to Columbus Circle, N/Q/R to 57th Street.

Tickets are $18.00 and are available at www.privatedisclosures.com

J.B. HEAPS (Playwright) His first foray into show business came when he was 12 years old with a minor role in the original movie version of Lord Of The Flies. The experience proved he had no discernable acting skills and that - coupled with a lack of ambition – left him no recourse other than to become a playwright. His work has been produced in New York and Los Angeles and includes Punchline, The Ring and The Art of the Cross and the Double Cross.

STEPHEN JOBES (Director) opened Michael Shurtleff’s Corner Loft Theatre with Pinter’s The Collection, directed From Jail to Jungle (Carnegie Hall), and Ketchup (Omni Theatre/NYSCA grant). For Alexander Racolin, he directed the American premieres of plays from England The Catalyst, Belfast Our Own Red Blood, and New Zealand Two Tigers. He directed Scottish rocker Mike Scott (The Waterboys) in PAN (American video, Geffen Records), Catherine Mapp in The Sheila Jordan Concert (Joseph Papp’s Public Theatre), Steve Hayes in We only Have Brains on Tuesday (MAC award), and for the roving Tea & Theatre Company, G.B. Shaw’s piano-comedy, The Music Cure. Stephen has had the pleasure of directing Mica Bagnasco in The Last Flapper (Studio 54). He’s help develop the one person shows Unconquerable Heart with Dorin Seymour as Jefferson Davis, Going Public with Terri Mateer, and the raucous I Married a Nun with D’yan Forest. For playwright Jody Heaps, he directed The Ring & The Art of the Cross and Double Cross, two plays in a rich cycle about the life & dreams of boxers and the women who love them. At La Mama in December, he worked with Grant Neale on Flann O’Brien’s imaginative The Third Policeman. This spring he will direct the ever elegant, always funny Marion Markham at the Metropolitan Room in her new show Accentuate the Positive. Member, SDC.
