Roundabout doing Stoppard's INDIAN INK!!!!

Posted by: MockingbirdGirl 03:49 pm EST 01/16/14

So excited about his -- I've wanted to see a production for ages. It vies with Arcadia as my favorite Stoppard piece.

Oh, also Noises Off (which the NYT announcement leads with):

Indian Ink is also one of my favorite Stoppard plays. I'm kind of shocked it hasn't been produced in NY. I was just a kid, but happened to be in SF when the play was produced there and my parents decided to take me because they'd been big Stoppard fans back home in the UK. I'm quite sure some of it went right over my head, but I do recall being absolutely enthralled.

I do hope that Roundabout has the good sense to cast actors of South Asian descent as the artist Nirad and his son.

looking on both iobdb and ibdb, indian ink hasn't been produced yet. i wonder why Roundabout isn't producing this show on Broadway. I saw the ACT production in SF in 1999.

I can't decided which revival announcement is more surprising, Titanic or Noises Off.

Yes, I was very(happily)surprised by the "Titanic" announcement. As for "Noises Off," I know it'll be 14 years since the LuPone revival--hard to believe--but, still, is this what Roundabout has to bring back again? Admittedly--no denial--I hated the play when I saw the original B'way. production. I recall liking the last act somewhat, the one act that everyone who said it was the funniest thing ever claimed not to be that good.

I'm not surprised about it because of the quality of the play -- I love the play and am one that will tell you it's one of the funniest plays I've ever seen -- But it's only been 13 years. I only that sounds like a long time, but it feels like it was 5. Seems to soon.

so it must be a Roundabout season of reviving revivals of that period.
