Agreed! I can't get that image of her bathed in a thousand lights at the end of 'Stormy Weather' out of my head!

Agreed! I can't get that image of her bathed in a thousand lights at the end of 'Stormy Weather' out of my head! That was certainly a 'wow' moment. Perfect blending of vocalist, band, direction, design (costume and lighting).

... he does a much better job describing it than I do. And it's no spoiler. It's not exactly a coup de theatre -- just a beautiful synthesis of song, performer/musicians and designers.

"Lighting designer Howell Binkley (“How to Succeed…,” “In the Heights”) is charged with the unenviable task of setting more than two-dozen distinct moods, and rises to the occasion throughout, particularly during “Stormy Weather,” which sees Barrino bathed in an almost religious glow from 10 individual spots."
