Reading the review earlier this morning I didn't come away thinking he had a problem with the set. If I recall correctly he thought that it reflected the powerful forces of alienation that are crushing The Young Woman. He does call it "scene stealing" but also says its not overwhelming, or words to that effect. I saw it last week and thought both the set and Rebecca Hall were superb.
