Why do you assert that premium tickets kick out local theatergoers? That doesn't seem to make sense.

It's been common on a lot of Off Broadway shows for several years now, and there's rarely an Off Broadway show - but perhaps for the not for profits with subscriptions - that don't offer discounts, and sometimes very deep discounts.

the 20 at 20 event should be coming up again soon, making tickets to many Off Broadway shows only $20, so what's wrong with people paying a premium for the best seats in the house? I understand the complaint on B'way where a significant portion of the orchestra is premium priced, and the next best seats are still ~$150, but I don't believe that's the case with Off Broadway shows. Most of them should only be so lucky to have that kind of demand.
