Blessed Unrest to Host General Auditions

Blessed Unrest is thrilled to announce that we will be holding general auditions in February! We are looking for highly-trained performers with unusual backgrounds who are interested in being part of a company, and who bring experience, intelligence, humor and skill into the rehearsal room.

We welcome actors, dancers, opera singers, circus performers, and people with bizarre and interesting skills. Diversity is very important to us and we are seeking artists of all colors, shapes and sizes, people with disabilities, and those for whom English is not their first language.

How to Apply

Auditions will be February 6, 7, 8 and 10 in New York City,
with callbacks on February 13 and 15.

To apply, please send an email to info@blessedunrest.org with a photo, resume, and brief answers to the following questions:

1) Why you are interested in working with our company?

2) What Blessed Unrest productions have you seen?

3) Have you auditioned for us before, and if so when?

This is a general audition for workshops of plays in development, and ensemble training sessions. If you are selected for an audition, we will contact you within two weeks to schedule an appointment.

About Blessed Unrest
Blessed Unrest uses the safe structure of training, rehearsal and performance to create an environment where dangerous things can happen. We are a non-profit, experimental theatre company based in Manhattan and have been generating original work since 1999. Blessed Unrest pursues international collaborations, performing here and overseas, including an ongoing relationship with Teatri Oda of Kosova.

The resident company at the Interart Theatre on West 52nd Street, Blessed Unrest has performed at PS122, the Public Theater, NYU's Lowe Theater, Columbia University, and Manhattan School of Music, in San Francisco and twice toured the Balkans with bilingual plays. We have received New York Innovative Theatre Awards in 2008 for Outstanding Production of a Play, and 2013 for Outstanding Choreography/Movement. Artistic Director Jessica Burr received the 2011 Lucille Lortel Award from the League of Professional Theatre Women.

Mission
Blessed Unrest is committed to producing dynamic, disciplined, and exuberant new works for the stage in New York City and abroad, building original pieces, and reconstructing established texts with its diverse ensemble of artists.
Ensemble
Blessed Unrest’s ensemble is comprised of ten company members, fourteen associate artists, and an extended training ensemble. We work with artists of diverse backgrounds including LBGT artists, those who are African-American, Albanian, Brazilian, Chinese, Colombian, Indian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Russian, as well as deaf and blind performers. This diversity broadens the scope of our work and attracts diverse audiences.
