I saw the show this evening. While the Faustian tale is a simple one, it is brilliantly told and staged by an insanely talented cast. You could see the cast eventually win over almost the entire audience to take part in the entertaining goings on. I am generally not one for audience participation shows, but this one, like "Here Lies Love" at the Public, coaxed me to abandon any reticence at participatory theater. The cast is uniformly excellent, but Melody Grove in the title role was astonishing. I suspect she is destined for great things. Anyone near Los Angeles who loves theater owes it to themselves to make it over to the Broad Stage in Santa Monica to see this worthy and entertaining offering from the National Theatre of Scotland.
