An interesting idea, but the part of Peter Pan is always played by a woman. Except in "Peter and the Starcatcher." Writer Rick Ellice explained in a lecture at the NY Public Library that the script calls for Peter to take off his shirt to fashion into a sail, and Ellice did not think it appropriate to ask a woman to do that.

The network exec states in the article that they will likely cast a male.

Actually, Peter Pan has been often portrayed by a man for the last few decades (at least in the play).

Honestly, I was kidding.

But, on the subject, Peter has been played by a male, including a full grown Francis Jue in St. Louis.

And Jefferson Mays starred in a fantastic production at Baltimore CenterStage 10+ years ago. Granted, this was the play, not the musical.

Right - I though the Elice reference above was odd, as he wasn't doing either the play or the musical, and he had a male actor playing a character named Boy. But maybe I misunderstood that.
