I saw this in Toronto last week, but missed the performance you saw. I saw (as posted below) Aaron Walpole as Valjean. His diction was also mushy sometimes, but his voice was great and he was ultimately very moving. I liked the show. I don't know what "look" Marius is supposed to have but I thought that actor was quite good and his lines preceding "Bring Him Home" moved me to tears. I agree re: Melissa O'Neill, I really liked her. Didn't care for Cosette, but did love the scenery! Was it too fast and/or overwrought? IMHO those are legit complaints that apply to a lot of tours and/or revivals, but I am not so familiar with the show that it bothered me. I was glad I saw the production and would recommend it.
